The Approach

Taking into account the existing decoration and original features of this Grade 2 listed property, we designed a sympathetic reception/ lobby area with plush upholstered seating, glass coffee tables (to keep a clear view of the marbled patterned floor), and moveable furniture to ensure this space could be used as another meeting space and adapted to various group sizes. A screen was required for privacy which was designed bespoke for the interior.

Challenges and remedies

  • With several doorways and passages through this reception/ lobby space the layout needed to accommodate these circulation paths. Furniture was made to bespoke sizes in order to ensure ample seating could fit within these paths.
  • The screen took inspiration from the colours and shapes of the marble patterned flooring and needed to be moveable for when this space is used for entertaining and opened up.
